- BY M. SHAMIL AMIT

St Peter’s College defeated Isipathana College, who were pummeled to their third successive outright defeat, by four wickets in the Under 19 interschool cricket encounter concluded at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

The low-scoring match saw Isipathana take a slender three-run lead in the first innings but failed miserably in the second innings when they were bowled out for 120 having resumed on their overnight score of 17 for no loss as they succumbed to the bowling combination of Chrishan Fernando and Julian de Zylva who shared seven wickets between them.

St Peter’s chasing a target of 124 runs for victory underwent some anxious moments before reaching the required target in the 35th over, thanks to an unbeaten knock of 49 by Shasheen Fernando.
