Twenty six year-old Swede Adam Kristoffersson won the Swedish Golf Classics 2012 while another Swede Do Lindberg won the prestigious Rolf’s Cup at the tenth annual Swedish Golf Classics organised by the Swedish Community in Sri Lanka in collaboration with Victoria Golf and Country Resort and worked off at the award winning Victoria golf course at Rajawella off Kandy last Sunday.

The golf course as usual was challenging and made more exciting by the course staff as the present rains experienced in the region has blessed it with a luxuriant growth of grass.

Five times world motor cross champion Rolf Tibblin was one of them who took an active interest in organising this event along with his wife Indira, Chathuri Engman, Dhanushka Medagoda and Errol Johnston. Rolf’s Cup donated by Rolf Tibblin was won by Bo Lindberge.

The main event of the championship was the Swedish Golf Classics Trophy won by Adam Kristoffersson which was handed over to the winner by the Chief Guest and Consular General for Sweden in Sri Lanka Neel Selvanayagam who also played a major role in the tournament by not only playing championship but was also one of main sponsors.

Adam Kristofferson was distinctly lucky to have won the Swedish Golf Classics trophy this year as a lady golfer was breathing fire from behind. Kristofferson got 37 Nett playing to a handicap of 10 and Suwen Selvaratnam too registered 37 Nett playing to a handicap of 10.

The organisers had to implement the count back system on the last nine holes to break the deadlock and it showed that Adam Kristoffersson had won by the skin of his teeth getting 9.19 against 9.17 by that graceful lady Suwen Selvaratnam.

Roif’s Cup donated by Rolf Tibblin and awarded to the senior golfer over 65 years was won by Swede Bo Lindberg with a Nett score of 33 Nett playing to a handicap of 19. Englishman Ian Tait who had performed well in this in the early stages of this event appeared to be out of touch as he managed only 25 Nett playing to a handicap of 6.
