Over 140 students of t he Business School of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) were awarded with master’s degrees and postgraduate diplomas at the 2012 Business School Convocation held at Galadari Hotel, Colombo recently.

A total of 90 students who have successfully completed the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Master of Project Management (MPM) of the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, were conferred with Masters Degrees, while 53 students were awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Financial Administration.

Chief Executive Officer of Brandix Lanka Ltd., Ashroff Omar graced the event as the Chief Guest, while Martin van Run - Director (USQ International) of the University of Southern Queensland Australia was the Guest of Honour.

CA Sri Lanka President, Sujeewa Rajapakse speaking at the convocation underscored the importance of having a skilled workforce especially for a develop- ing country like Sri Lanka, while emphasizing that more focus should be put in to ensure brain gain instead of brain drain.

“In this time of recovery and development, I do not have to underscore the role of a professional in helping rebuild our country. You may be an accountant or a marketer by profession but in general, we all have an underlying responsibility in helping our nation succeed in all its development plans.”

“We are recovering from a tragic period of time, but as the present generation of professionals, we should make it our responsibility to build a better future for our future generations. This is an opportunity for us to prove that we, as a nation are capable to progress despite the challenges thrown at us,” he noted.

While congratulating the graduates on their academic achievements, Rajapakse stressed that professional dedication, along with continuous education is a requirement if professionals are to sur- vive in today’s competitive business world.

Having been in existence for over ten years, the CA Business School is one of the country’s leading business schools providing a diverse range of high-end local and foreign qualifications for the advancement of the Sri Lankan professional.

Both CA Sri Lanka and the University of Southern Queensland share an exceptional association counting to ten long years.
