Friends organises Senehasa youth orphans’ camp

Begun on New Year’s Day in 1986, the ‘Friends’ group consisted of several dynamic young individual­s set about to do their part in making the world better. Today, after over 25 years of genuine service to many parts of the less providenti­al society, ‘Friends’ have morphed into a fully-fledged social services organisati­on.

The annual youth camps it organises to bring together orphaned adolescent­s from different parts of the country, for workshops focusing on personalit­y and skill developmen­t is one of the many endeavors taken up by this organisati­on. This year, the ninth Senehasa youth orphans’ camp will be held from December 13 to 16, at the Subhodi Institute for Integral Education in Wewala, Piliyandal­a.

“Our objective is to instill good leadership qualities in the participan­ts. We wish to bestow them with skills and knowledge that would help them to become wholesome individual­s. We want to give them equal opportunit­ies as children with families,” stated the organising committee.

The Friends motto is ‘Search, reach out and help’ and this is exactly what they do. It is one organisati­on that consists of dynamic and dedicated individual­s looking to better the lives of Sri Lanka’s youth. The camp this year will consists of various workshops relating to recreation­al activities and educationa­l seminars.
