A window to the Past

-

Kadambari jewels presents it's premium collection this November, opening a window to the past with its beautiful array of antique silver jewellery cleverly combined with semiprecious and precious gemstone beads creating unique pieces of jewellery that herald the past and celebrate the present.

Kadambari is the creative expression of Rashantha Devanesan who has been designing and crafting Kadambari jewellery for the past 5 years.

Rashantha comes from an old Sri Lankan Tamil family, having watched, as a child, her Mother and Grandmother wear beautiful South Indian and Sri Lankan jewellery, her artistic temperament combined with a deep love of the cultural heritage of South Asia inspired the creations of Kadambari jewels.

“I am thankful every day for the gift of being able to work with beautiful gemstones and stunning craftsmanship from a foregone era, for giving me hours of intense peace and tranquillity when I am at work with these beautiful pieces. I feel they have spent long years lying in wait for me to pick them up and get them dressed in the lovely colours nature has endowed in gemstones and other natural materials. Natural stones have energies that enhance, energise and often bring tranquillity when worn. Different stones have differing properties and suit different temperaments and some times also bring healing.

I feel a personal connection with every piece I make and it is important that the people who wear my jewellery feel the same.

I have received so much from my work that I have always felt the need to give back to the communities I live with. Abundance must flow through and be shared, otherwise it ceases to be of any value.

Sales of Kadambari jewellery have always supported charities working with disabled and disadvantaged women and children.

This year, Kadambari supports the “Building Bridges” project of Zonta1, a group of professional women dedicated to social service.

The project aims to bring women who have been affected by disaster and war, from all three communities in Sri Lanka to work together and support each other.

kadambari’s “antique inspirations- a window to the past” premium collection will be showcased at an exclusive fashion show and high tea at the cinnamon lakeside hotel on the 30th of

November 2012 from 3.30pm.
