Coalition seeks to end bribery and corruption

-

The Coalition against Corruption, a collective of trade unions civil society organizations, professionals, academics, media personnel and artistes had appealed to government officials and the public to forward all instances of bribery, corruption and other malpractices to it with sufficient evidence to substantiate the charges.

In a statement the Coalition says that it hoped to present such instances of malpractices to the Commission on Investigation into Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), Parliamentary Oversight Committees, the Auditor General and other relevant authorities for necessary action.

The statement also says that the Coalition was also keen to take steps to reduce malpractices in relation to the use of public property, strengthen the Parliamentary Committees on Financial Matters, seek the introduction of legislation towards transparency of public finance, stop malpractices leading to the breakdown of the rule of law, agitate for the setting up of a People’s Tribunal and start a Trust to receive public complaints, encourage public officials who work against corruption, and minimize wastage due to corruption.

Such information can be forwarded to No 6, 37th Lane, Queen’s Road, Colombo 03 or email to vlvekshan_91@hotmall.com or telephone 011 2055255, the statement said.
