Suren appointed to Union Bank Board
Union Bank of Colombo PLC announces the appointment of Suren Madanayake as an Independent Non Executive Director to the Bank’s Board of Directors with effect from 31st October 2012.
Madanayake counts for over 21 years experience in the cables and plastic industry and was appointed to the Board of ACL Cables PLC in June 1991 and subsequently appointed as Managing Director in 2005.
With the acquisition of Kelani Cables PLC he was also appointed as Deputy Chairman of Kelani Cables PLC. He also serves as Managing Director in several companies including: Ceylon Bulbs and Electricals Ltd., ACL Plastics PLC and Director of ACL Metals & Alloys (Pvt.) Ltd., ACL Polymers (Pvt.) Ltd., ACL-Kelani Magnet Wire (Pvt.) Ltd., Fab Foods (Pvt) Ltd., Ceylon Copper (Pvt) Ltd., SM Lighting (Pvt) Ltd. and Ceylon Tapioca Limited.
He also serves as Chairman of CCC Foundation of Sri Lanka, which is an approved charity.
He is qualified in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas in Austin, USA. Madanayake was educated at Royal College, Colombo and captained the Royal College 1st XV Rugby team in 1987.
