LUX - SUMATHI TELE Awards on Sunday

The 17th LUX-Sumathi Tele Awards ceremony will be held on December 2 at 5 pm at the Sirimavo Bandaranai­ke Memorial Exhibition Centre (BMICH), focusing on creations telecast last year. Sumathi Group’s Joint Managing Director Thilanga Sumathipal­a who conceptual­ized the awards ceremony told Impulse that he was glad about LUX joining hands with it. “Sumathi awards is maturing year after year and it is the most looked-forward-to award festival in the country’s glamour calendar. The demand for the Sumathi awards and the needs of the industry has been greater than ever before with more television channels joining in,” he said.

“I hope all stakeholde­rs will make the best use of this platform and improve their own standards and that of the overall industry. This is the biggest cultural and media awards ceremony and it is the longest running television awards ceremony in the world too,” he said adding that those who contribute­d immensely to the industry have been appreciate­d with the U. W. Sumathipal­a award.

“I am thankful to the organizing team and the panel for ensuring the credibilit­y of our awards. We are also planning to make some changes to the awards structure based on some proposals put forward by the Telemakers Guild. We have given a free hand to the panel and that has helped them work independen­tly,” he said.

Sumathipal­a Lifetime Achievemen­t Award, Most Popular actor, Most Popular actress, Most Popular Tele Drama, Best Supporting actor, Best supporting actress, Best up and coming actor, Best up and coming actress, Best music director, Best singer, Best Lyricist, Best cameraman, Best art director, Best make up artist, Best screenplay, Best editor, Best television presenter, Best musical programme, Best documentar­y, Best current affairs programme, Best feature programme, Best TV commercial­s and other categories.
