First death anniversary of David Waduge

-

Gathering the words to express the sorrow of the loss of a parent is never easy especially when we were never really ready to say goodbye nor wanted to say goodbye. On 7th December last year, thaththa breathed his last. We had all lost a hero and a great human being – a man who upheld every tenet of integrity and honesty in service and a wonderful father and grandfather to us, his children and to my mother, who mourns his loss in silence.

His death showed how unpredictable life is. The lessons he taught us remain engraved within us and with admiration we can say he taught us what was right. He was such a dynamic person and those who knew him over the years would never disagree – he would always put the interests of others first. That’s the kind of man he was and every time we recall the memories as we look at his picture now on a frame we can but feel sad yet happy that we were blessed to have one of the best fathers any daughter could ever wish for.

My sisters Shehani and Shanaka, my husband Nujith, and my brothers-in-law Kanishka and Rolith and our children – Ranudy and Pulindu, Avin and Anuk and Amandi will always cherish the fond memories we had – always.

We miss you thaththa, very much

Shenali Waduge
