Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman further remanded

The Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and a Councillor of the Pradesiya Sabha who allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 400,000 from a property developer and quarry owner were further remanded till December 28 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.

The suspects, Dompe Paradeshiy­a Sabha Chairman Milan Sajith Jayathilak­e and Pradeshiya Sabha Councilor K. Don Ajith Sisira Kumara were further remanded by the Magistrate consequent to investigat­ions not concluded yet.

The Officer of the Commission that investigat­ed the Allegation­s of Bribery submitted to Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli that the investigat­ions were not yet completed and objected to grant bail to the suspects.

The suspects were apprehende­d by the Bribery sleuths when they accepted Rs. 400,000 and as part payment of the solicited amount from the property developer Chula Wickramara­tne of Watareka to issue a permit to blast a rock that was in a land and to approve the plotted lots of land for developmen­t.
