BMICH X’mas Expo opened
The grand opening of the ‘BMICH X’mas Lifestyle Shopping Expo 2012’ took place at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre at the BMICH premises on Saturday, December 15, 2012. An annual event, taking place for the third consecutive year, the BMICH X’mas Lifestyle Shopping Expo is organised by ‘the team BMICH’. The event that goes on till the 23rd will be open for the public daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
There are over 220 trade stalls, run by the local as well as foreign entrepreneurs, with varieties of products of almost everything, which includes electrical and electronic items, home appliances, kitchen utensils, garments, foot ware, curtains, carpets, pharmaceuticals, ornaments, gift items and seasonal requirement, etc. with a range of selections at competitive prices.
The BMICH X’mas 2012 Lifestyle Shopping Expo is sponsored by leading commercial giants in the local business arena, holding the franchise to market world-renowned brands of household items and field equipment in Sri Lanka. M/s. Brown & Co. Ltd has joined the Expo as the main sponsor for the third consecutive occasion, while M/s. Singer Sri Lanka is holding the position of the gold sponsor at the event. It is for the first time that two leading brand owners, competing each other have come forward to make their expo- sure at a one single event. Besides, Coca Cola, Elephant House, Nestle, and Fashion Care represent the event as co-sponsors. ITN, the No.1 TV channel in Sri Lanka, provides the media support backed by their sister channel Lakhanda. Dan TV and Alai FM contribute to advertise the event among the Tamil viewers and listeners.
According to Bandhula Ekanayake, the Director General and the CEO of the S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation, by which the BMICH complex is governed, profit generation is not the sole motive of this programme. The BMICH X’mas Lifestyle Shopping Expo is a venturesome endeavour that facilitates the entrepreneurs at a very low rate, expecting them to conduct a fair and reasonable business, affordable for the general public to acquire all their needs during the festive season.
A range of entertaining programmes, staged by well-known performers have been arranged throughout the nine days to provide the entire family a joyful shopping experience.
Every entrance ticket, which includes a selective gift item, will be referred to the raffle draw held on the final night of the Shopping Expo to select seven lucky winners, who will be rewarded with return air tickets to Singapore.
