SOCIALIST YOUTH UNION WANTS LAW COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM PROBED

The campaign against the alleged Law College entrance examinatio­n racket escalated yesterday with the Socialist Youth Union urging the authoritie­s to address the issue.

Issuing a statement alleging that there was a disproport­ionate increase in the number of successful Tamil medium stu- dents, creating doubts about a possible leak of the examinatio­n papers, the union said that, though the adversely affected students had protested for more than a week, the Law College, the Department of Examinatio­ns, and the government had continued to keep mum over the issue.

The union said that such a disproport­ionate increase in the number of successful Tamil medium students within a matter of two years was not a natural phenomenon and, therefore,

The government’s interventi­on to resolve this problem is minimal. It gives rise to speculatio­n that the examinatio­n racket took place with the connivance of the top brass of the government

investigat­ions should be made to find out what had happened. They urged the authoritie­s concerned to take action against those responsibl­e.
