DINESH the magical musician

-

Promising young music director Dinesh Subasinghe who recently received the 2012 best music director Sumathi award for his creations in ‘Pinsara Dosthara’ became the youngest to receive the prestigious award in the 17-year history of Sumathi Awards.

Dinesh Subasinghe is now one of the most recognized and most sought after young music composers in the film and tele drama scenes.

Entering the world of films following a stint as a member of a rock band and an instrumentalist, Dinesh has become a young and dynamic blend of synthesized, orchestral styles and world music.

His scores are broadly thematic, ethnically diverse and immensely popular among the young generation of film music and tele drama fans in Sri Lanka. His creative ability which was proven via ‘Siri Sirimal’ and ‘Sihina Wasanthayak’ were turning points in the tuneful career of Dinesh who studied at the A. R. Rahman Music Academy in India.

Dinesh has the knack of integrating electronic music sounds with traditional and eastern Asian orchestral arrangements. In addition to the Sumathi award, he won the SIGNIS award in 2009.

“I must express my sincere gratitude to tele drama maker Sunil Costa and his production team especially Cletus Mendis, my parents, my best friend Ranushka Fernando and Christina Fernando for the support they have given me right throughout,” said Dinesh insisting that none of his achievements would have been possible if not for the encouragement and assistance received from numerous people who supported him in his endeavours.
