'Don't' say Peradeniya medical students

- BY R.S.KIRIYAWATTA

Medical Faculty students of the Peradeniya University yesterday staged a protest at the Galaha junction compelling the government to take over the Malabe private medical college. President of the medical faculty student union N.K.Binal Madusanka said that free education in the country was being destroyed by the authorities who close schools one after another and crippling universities. He warned that a conspiracy was being hatched to privatise university education and that the opening of a private medical collage was an initial step. He pointed out that the responsibility of the government was to provide adequate facilities to the state universities and not to establish private universities.
