Chaya unspools from today

‘Chaya’ - the latest tele serial produced by Deshamanya Dr. Upul Jayasinghe who won awards for the most popular tele drama three years in a row - will be telecast on Sirasa TV from today daily at 9 pm on weekdays.

The romantic tele tale directed by Sandun Rajakaruna is based on a captivating story by popular novelist Sujeewa Prasanna Arachchi and features a star cast including Vishvanath Kodikara, Maheshi Madusanka, Meena Kumari, Sanjeewani Weerasinghe, Sanath Wimalasiri, Menaka Maduwanthi, Kamal Deshapriya, Ishara Sandamini, Sanketh Wickremage, Hemantha Iriyagama, Udayangani Samankumari, Ayomi Shanika, Geetha Kanthi Jayakody, Nirdha Uyanhewa and others.

Asanga Ranatunga owns a popular fashionable clothing shop in the city. Chaya who comes to work in this large clothing shop, soon earns a special place in the heart of Asanga. But Asanga’s cousin has hopes of marrying Asanga some day. On the other hand Chaya also has a cousin called Manjula who wants to marry her. How will destiny treat these characters that are entwined by romance?

Manjula Roshan Ambepitiya has handled the camera, Sampath Wanniaarchchi the art direction, Sameera Madhu Kindelpitiya the make up, Shantha Jayalth Tissera the music direction while Lalith Wasantha and Neil Rukman are the Executive producers.

Amila Nadeeshani and Poorna Sachitra jave sung the theme song penned by Channa Jayanath. The tele drama is produced by Nilwala Video team Chairman Deshamanya Dr. Upul Jayasngeh who made award-winning creations like Ithin Eeta Passe, Bonda Meedum, Sihina Piyapath and Adaranneya Chanchala.

More than 2 million copies of the popular novel ‘Chaya’ on which the story is based upon have been sold so far.
