Aamir Khan shows the way to Imran Khan

- By M. Ismeth

Whatever publicity an actor needs whether it’s the print or electronic media announcing the release of his film, yet Aamir Khan in order to boost his debut film “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak ”twenty four years ago pasted posters of the film on buses, rickshaws and taxis. He shot to fame after this film.

Of course Aamir was not alone he was assisted by Imran Khans’s mother. Imran Khan said that twenty fours years ago Aamir uncle and Imran’s mother roamed around the by-lanes of Bandra seeking the permission of rickshaw drivers to paste the posters of his film

and telling them he is the hero of the film. And today actor Imran Khan is following in the footsteps of his uncle Aamir Khan and pasting posters of his new film “Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola” on taxis, rickshaws and buses with the permission of its owners.

“Flash forward 24 years and I find myself doing the same thing. Actually in our city public transport is the most important thing whether it’s the rickshaw, taxis or buses, it has always been the lifeline of the city, I think it’s the easiest way to communicate and reach out to the people.”

Imran recounts the similarity between his way and what Aamir once did.

Incidentally, Mumbai has around 90,000 taxis and nearly half of them in garages on any given day. This was a couple of years ago it must be double the amount or more now.
