Richmond 70-80 Group AGM on Saturday
Richmond College Union (Colombo) 70-80 Group will hold their Annual General meeting and Get-to- gether 2012/13 at the Regency, Mount Lavinia Hotel on February 9, 2013, after a very successful year.The Group was involved in many sports activities of the College during the past year.
Richmond College Union (Colombo) 70-80 Group will hold their Annual General meeting and Gettogether 2012/13 at the Regency, Mount Lavinia Hotel on February 9, 2013, after a very successful year.
The Group was involved in many sports activities of the College during the past year. It presented awards to the Best Batsman and Best Bowler of Cricket season 2011/2012 and Best Athletes of all age groups with cash prizes. The Group also partly sponsored the "Colours Nite" of 2012.
Four past teachers namely,.Nihal Gunawardena, .A.M. Chandrawathie,. Swarnamali Weerasinghe and Piyasena Kariyawasam were felicitated at last year’s RCU 70/80 Group AGM.
Activity Calendar for the year 2012 covered many areas in academic studies, sports and other extra-curricular activities. The Group continued to sponsor the "Wednesday Evening Club" who organised the musical evening "Ulpatha Pamula", an event blending music and literature, choreographed and moderated by distinguished Old Boy and wellknown poet Ratna Sri Wijesinghe. The prize giving for the best classes and teachers for maintenance and development of school environment was held with the full sponsorship from the Group.
Another important project of the Group was the "Career Guidance Seminar" for A/L students with resource persons from Kotalawala Defence University and leading corporate organisations. We have continuously assisted to develop infrastructure facilities in Computer Lab and Library Management with the donations of necessary computer equipment and internet facilities.
