She had tattoo of Lord Buddha on her back

While questioning the woman the police had noticed the offensive tattoo on the back of the woman and had placed her under arrest

The tourist police had arrested a woman tourist, identified as a Dutch National, who had a picture of the Lord Buddha tattooed on her body in Kandy.

The 25-year-old suspect had allegedly started to quarrel with employees of a restaurant situated on Dalada Weediya which had forced the restaurant owner to summon the police. While questioning the woman the police had noticed the offensive tattoo on the back of the woman and had placed her under arrest. It was later discovered that the Dutch woman also did not possess a valid tourist visa to stay in the country.

Police sources revealed that the suspect woman had got the tattoo etched onto her upper back area in Sri Lanka. She was produced before the Kandy Magistrate Court and remanded until today (8).
