During the war, many craft had been sunk in the seas off Maruthankerni

Vadamaratchi East fishermen complain that the number of crafts sunk in the area during the war was so high that they are unable to carry out their fishing activities.

During the war, many craft had been sunk in the sea areas off Maruthankerni, Thalaiyady, Championpattu, and this has posed a danger to fishing.

, No action has been taken by the Fisheries Department up to now to resolve this, the fishermen allege.

When asked, the Jaffna Fisheries Department Deputy Director Ganeshamoorthy said if the fisherman give them written complaints through their fishing societies or associations, the Department will get the assistance of the Navy and clear the obstructions."
