‘Government are the real terrorists’ says FSP
Reacting to the Convention on Suppression of Terrorist Financing (Amendment) Bill, the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) yesterday said all that the government had to do was to define terrorism and to go and stand in front of a mirror to find out who the real terrorists were.
Parliamentarian Ajith Kumara of the People’s Struggle Movement addressing a press brief-
It was the Sri Lankan government that did not allow people to act according to their democratic rights Neither the United Nations (UN) nor the government of the United States of America (USA) has defined who terrorists are because if they do, their actions would make them immediately fall under that category
ing in Colombo against the Convention on Suppression of Terrorist Financing (Amendment) Bill said this Bill was another effort of the government to implement suppression of the public by labelling forces working against the government as terrorists.
“Neither the United Nations (UN) nor the government of the United States of America (USA) has defined who terrorists are because if they do, their actions would make them immediately fall under that category. So this same logic is applicable to the Sri Lankan government. The government has also failed to define who terrorists are because it was the authorities in power who were acting like terrorists today,” Kumara said.
Speaking further he added that it was the Sri Lankan government that did not allow people to act according to their democratic rights, to express their ideologies or to get involved in politics or to distribute leaflets against the conduct of the government.
“So the government are the real terrorists,” Kumara said. Commenting further he said this Bill should be defeated in parliament or otherwise the government would brand forces working against it as terrorists for their particular purposes and convenience.
