Mahaweligama Junior School under the 1000 secondary school programme. The junior school with a strength of 280 students from Grade One to Grade Five is located in a small building is congested, inconveniencing students. Several classes are held in the corridors and in the school grounds. The secretary of the school development society M.D.Anuruddha said they collected Rs.2000 each from the parents to fund the project implemented with the help of a foreign NGO.
