LRC to evict govt.land grabbers in Matale
Over 280 acres of state owned land at Pallepola in the Matale district is illegally owned by a group of individuals who are acting under the pretext of an approved charity. This situation surfaced during the recent meeting of the Matale District Coordinating Committee.
After taking up the issue, the committee had instructed Asst. Director of the Matale Land Reforms Commission P.C.Imbulpitiya to take over the land.
Subsequently, the assistant director of the LRC informed the committee that he had inquired into the complaint and found that the individuals concerned had come into illegal possession of the land by producing false documents to mislead government officials. And he sought formal approval of the LRC to takeover the land.
