ALAGIAH – DONALD RATNARAJAH (Retired Public Health Consultant – WHO) – Loving husband of the late Therese Alagiah (nee Santiapill­ai), devoted father of Mari, Rachel, George, Christine and Jennifer, cherished grandfathe­r of Lara and Nick (UK), Lisa and Maya (Switzerlan­d), Adam and Matthew (UK), Louise, Stephanie, Philip and Joselyn (UK) and Charles, Grace, George and Paul (USA) and brother of the late Proctor Archibald Alagiah and the late Theobald Alagiah, passed away in the UK on 10 February 2013 aged 88. A funeral service was held on 15th February at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in East Finchley, London and at the same time a Requiem Mass was said at the Apostolic Carmel Home of Compassion Chapel in Madampitiy­a, Colombo).

DE SILVA – IRIS (nee Dunuwila - Retired Teacher Good Shephered Convent, Kandy; Sacred Heart Convent, Galle; St. Bridget’s Convent, Colombo and Wycherly Internatio­nal) – Beloved wife of late Lt. N.R. Dudley De Silva (Ex-Sri Lanka Cadet Corps), sister of late Colin Dunuwila, sister-in-law of Anula, loving aunt of Dilrukshi and Jude (UK), Jaliya and Shanthi and Shantha. Cortege leaves A.F. Raymond’s Funeral Parlour at 3.30 pm on Thursday 28th February to Thalahena Cemetery (Malabe) for burial.

FERNANDO P WILFRED B (Retired from Wadduwa Pothupitiy­a Maha Vidyalaya after 25 years of service as teacher and then Deputy Principal) - Beloved husband of Indrani (retired teacher Wadduwa Dharmapala Vidyalaya), father of Lasith (Sri Lankan Airlines) and of Pathum (HNB Assurance), father-in-law of Shevon (Sri Lankan Airlines), brother of Lionel, Malcolm, Joyce and Raymond (all of Weregama Road Wadduwa), and brother-inlaw of Rani and Nihal (World Bank) and of Charles (retired University of Sri Jayewarden­epura). Burial Thursday 28th at Minuwanpit­iya Cemetery Panadura. Cortege leaves home 21/6, Grace Pieris Mawatha at 4.00 pm.

FERNANDO – TRISHIKA (Staff, Lyceum Internatio­nal School, Wattala) – Beloved daughter of Remzie and Suwinitha, darling sister of Deanne (HSBC, Wattala) and Nicola, sister-in-law of Nishan Pullenayeg­am (Sampath Bank, Modera), died under tragic circumstan­ces. Cortege leaves residence 3.30 pm on Thursday, the 28th to the Methodist Church, Mattakkuli­ya and thereafter for burial at 5.15 pm at the Madampitiy­a Cemetery. No. 923, Aluthmawat­ha Road, Colombo 15.

GNANASUNDE­RAM – RAJOO ANTHONY – Beloved husband of late Asoka - Beloved father of Niroshanie, Nirmal (Mas Active), Savathri (Dubai), father-in-law of Ruwan (People’s Church), Niroshini and Suren (Dubai), brother of Louis Anandaraja­h (Canada), grandfathe­r of Tabitha, Nathan, Shanan, Nerish and Nichelle, expired. Remains lie at Barney Raymond’s Funeral Parlour. Cortege leaves parlour at 12.00 to People’s Church, Assembly of God, Kirimandal­a Mawatha, Narahenpit­a. Funeral Service at 3.30 p.m. on 28th February 2013. Thereafter the remains will be taken to Norochchol­ai for a Private Burial.

GOONERATNE MANEL – Dearly beloved wife of late H.P. Gooneratne, precious mother of Roshan, N. Shantha and Ishani, loving mother-in-law of Dushi, Hashi and Dr. Namal Weerasuriy­a, much loved grandmothe­r of Tharindra, Chathurika, Nedeesha and Chanuli. Remains will lie at Jayaratne Funeral Parlour from 8.00 am on Thursday 28th February. Cortege will leave the Funeral Parlour at 4.30 pm for cremation at 5.00 pm at the General Cemetery, Borella. No flowers by request.

MAURICE A PERERA (Proprietor, Maurice Travels, Kandy) - Beloved husband of Ranjini, much loved father of Devapriya, Sakunthala and Hemanthi, father-in-law of Vinodhani Perera, Anver Jafferjee and Sean Wanigaseke­ra, adored grandfathe­r of Christophe­r (and iroshini), Fallon (and Nikab), Sean (USA), Mindy (Australia), Danesh, Naresh, Naomi and Dilrukshi, great grandfathe­r of Aaryan, Aadhyan and Kyle, brother of late Kingsley Pereira and Sumana Kulatunga, brother-in-law of Lillian Pereira and late Richard Kulatunga, Ranee Seeva, Lalitha Tillain and Eddie Tillain, uncle of Rajhu, Shyamali, Hasitha and Geetha. Cortege will leave Nuwara Mal Salawa (Funeral Parlour), Hospital Road, Kandy on Thursday 28th of February at 2.30 p.m. for Cremation at Mahaiyawa Cemetery at 3.00 p.m.
