Several Muslim legislators - three Muslim ministers and another Muslim MP among them-began a tour of Mannar and the Vavuniya regions yesterday (10).
Senior Minister A. H. M. Fowzie, Rishad Bathiudeen, (Minister of Industry and Commerce) M. Hizbullah (Deputy Minister-Economic Development) along with A.H.M. Upon hearing concerns raised by villagers, the visiting legislators had assured them that alternative options will be explored with regard to their pressing issues, among them the issue concerning land.
The Ministers thereafter travelled to a school in the remote village in Thatchchanamaruthamadi which was attended by more than 200 Tamil students and had 13 teachers. Here Minister Dr Mervyn Silva had distributed some school supplies to the students of this school.
The Ministers also visited the areas of Uppukulam and Sannar in the Mannar District and met the Muslim community in one-to-one discussions where their burning issues were discussed.
