Futile moves to tie ‘halal’ with Geneva- Champika

The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) yesterday said that just as M.H.M Ashraff got President Premadasa to issue gazettes, the All Ceylon Jamiyyathu­l Ulama (ACJU) were trying to shove halal down the throats of the Rajapaksa regime by showing-off to Geneva.

Speaking further Ranawaka added that it was the 2002 ‘Oluvil Declaratio­n’ by the students of the South Eastern University which inspired him to write this book ten years ago, while also explaining that ‘history has to be recorded correctly’ and that had prompted him to write the book.
