Weera Keppetipol­a Central overcome Matale Thomians

Six teams from St. Thomas’, Vijaya, Hindu, Christ Church and Akuramboda Weera Keppetipol­a Central participat­ed in this inaugural cricket sixes

Weera Keppetipol­a Central Akuramboda beat St. Thomas’, Matale by 4 wickets in the final to take away the “Dharmasiri Pandigama Memorial Trophy” in the inaugural Matale Schools under 19 cricket sixes 2013 worked off at Bernard Aluvihare Stadium, Matale on Sunday March 10..

Six teams from St. Thomas’, Vijaya, Hindu, Christ Church and Akuramboda Weera Keppetipol­a Central participat­ed in this inaugural cricket sixes 2013 conducted by the Past Pupils Associatio­n of Christ Church College, Matale in honour of late Dharmasiri Pandigama who was the principle of Christ Church from 2001-2005.

Batting first St. Thomas’ made 67 in their allotted overs to which Akuramboda lads replied with 70/2 in 4.4 overs. Sachith Kohona top scored with 38.

Akuramboda lads also excelled to bag major individual honours that were on offer. Akuramboda Central skipper Sachith Kohona who scored 176 runs in the tournament with his best 85 against Hindu College was named the player of the tournament. He also won the award for the best batsman.

The best bowler’s award went to Samadhi Rajapakse of St. Thomas’ Matale who returned best figures 1/08 in the final.

Rasika Dilan of Akuramboda Central was adjudged as the man of the final. In the semi finals St. Thomas’ beat Vijaya by 12 runs while Weera Keppetipol­a Central outplayed Christ Church by 28 runs.
