Janadhipathi Nawala, D.S. Senanayake hockey champs

Janadhipathi, Nawala and D.S. Senanayake College emerged champions in the girls and boys under 19 Colombo Schools Hockey Championships conducted by the Colombo Schools Hockey Committee at the Astro Turf recently.

In the girls final, Janadhiapathi defeated Musaeus College 5-0 with Imesha Lakshan the centre forward scoring in the 5th, 27th and 45th minutes, Yasith Prabodi right extreme scoring in the 8th minute and Anaka Bohram the left extreme scoring in the 10th minute.

In the play-off for the third place, a 13th minute goal by Bimesha Dewmini gave Yasodara BV a 1-0 win over Gothami BV.

In the boy’s final, a goal by centre forward Abdul Rahuman in the 14th minute enabled D.S. Senanayake College to post a 1-0 win over Royal College.

In the play-off for the third place, Wesley College beat Ananda College 1-0 with Rudra Lakshan converting a penalty corner in the 21st minute.

Both goals were scored in the 29th minute by Malindi Malisha and Kavishka Virajini in the 33rd minute.

In the play–off for the third place, a goal in the 2nd minute by Anjalika Dissanayaka and another in the 27th minute by Nimasha Gomez gave Sirimavo BV a 2-0 win over Bishops College. (BM)
