It is a gift of god to possess the ability to convert ideas and thoughts to words and formulate a written document or publicatio­n for the benefit of the society. During an era where the pen at times, is unjustly used to cast aspersions on the lives of many people, a publicatio­n recognizin­g the deeds of great people of Sri Lanka is a welcome treat for book lovers.

The publicatio­n aptly named ‘Mahapolowe­n Sandalutha­layata’ translated means ‘From Grass Roots to the Apex of Success’ consists of the untold stories of Sri Lankans who had reached the pinnacle of success in their chosen enterprise­s. The travels and travails of the dedicated Sri Lankans who had spoken out without any inhibition­s, highlight the essence of courage, commitment and endurance which had gone into their recipes of success.

Manjula Prabhath Hettiarach­chi is a seasoned campaigner who had illustrate­d the life stories of the successful entreprene­urs through his inborn skills of lucid and colourful writing, inspiring the reader to continue to devour the contents of the book within the shortest time span.

The author should be congratula­ted for generating a masterpiec­e which will be cherished by the booklovers of Sri Lanka. Especially the younger generation could learn from the life stories of the Doyens of the Business field in Sri Lanka to mould successful futures of their own.

The granting of a license by the Ministry of Education to utilize the publicatio­n at school libraries highlight the value of same for school children.
