Panadura record sixth outright win

The seventh round Premier league matches which concluded yesterday saw eight of the nine matches ending in outright wins which also saw Tamil Union coasting to their seventh successive outright with a day to spare when they defeated Chilaw Marians by four wickets.

Apart from that Kushal Perera had the honour of chalking up the highest ever individual score in a Sri Lanka domestic tournament when he slammed a swashbuckl­ing 336 runs against Saracens SC which paved the way for Colts to record a resounding innings win.

Panadura SC continued their winning trend when they outclassed Air Force by 245 runs in the match played at Rifle Green to record their sixth outright win of the tournament. Two solid performanc­es by skipper Chamara Silva and left arm spinner Gayan Sirisoma helped them earn their sixth victory.

Chamara made twin half tons while Gayan ended with a match bag of ten wickets which enabled them to bowl out the Airmen for low scores. Air Force set a massive target of 440 runs found Gayan too hot to handle as they succumbed to a score of 194 runs.

Colts trounce Saracens

Colts trounced Saracens SC by an innings and 287 runs in the match concluded at the Colts ground. The writing was on the wall for Saracens SC when play ended on day two as they had the daunting task of erasing a further 351 runs on the final day. Saracens SC resuming on their overnight score of 76 for 2 was unable to make any headway as the batsmen failed to make any impression and were bowled meekly for a low score of 194.

SSC crush Kurunegala YCC

SSC registered their fourth outright win when they crushed Kurunegala YCC by an innings and 70 runs in the match concluded at the Welagedera Stadium in Kurunegala. Kurunegala YCC continuing from their overnight score of 56 for 3 lasted only 32 overs on the final day being bowled out for 178.

NCC in five wicket win

An unbeaten ton by Duleeka Tissakutti­ge could not prevent NCC from securing a five wicket win over Navy SC and their fifth of the tournament in the match which ended at Welisara. The resistance by the late order batting of Navy resuming on their overnight score of 186 for 7 was insufficie­nt as it left NCC just 105 runs for victory which they achieved in the 20th over.
