Tyrone bowls Richmond to eleventh outright win

Right arm spinner A.K. Tyrone with career best figures of 8 for 34 guided Richmond to record a convincing nine wicket over St. Aloyius Galle in the Under 19 match concluded at Galle yesterday and guide the side to their 11th outright win of the season.

The Richmondit­es had put themselves in line to secure an outright win on day one as they bundled out the Aloysians for a paltry 98 and ended the day on 148 for 7.

The second day’s play saw Richmond resuming on their overnight score going on to make 169 which gave them a lead of 71 runs. St. Aloysius batting a second time was wrecked by Tyrone and to be bowled out for 120.

Richmond left with just 49 runs for victory reached the target in the 15th over. In the process Richmond equalled the record for the most number of outright wins which is 11 achieved by Ananda under the captaincy of Dinesh Chandimal and the last year’s all conquering Trinitians led by Nir- oshan Dickwella.
