CSE commences investor awareness programmes for 2013

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has commenced its islandwide investor awareness programmes and educationa­l workshops for 2013 and has lined up certain events during this month.

Accordingl­y, the CSE has organised an Investor Day, which is an open day concept, where investors from the selected area can come and understand what the role of the CSE is and also learn about the investment opportunit­ies available with the CSE.

This will be free of charge and will provide participan­ts with an ideal one-on-one opportunit­y to raise questions pertaining to the market and plan their investment­s with broker firms and unit trust compa- nies that will be present at the event.

The first programme will be at the Kekirawa Cultural Centre on March 21, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the other will be at the Jaffna Public Library Auditorium during the same times.

Another such programme is an investor educationa­l workshop which is designed to give participan­ts an understand­ing of financial statement analysis.

These workshops will be conducted in Matara, Negambo and Kandy at the CSE’s respective branches and also in Colombo at nominal fees of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 (Colombo). All these sessions will be conducted in Sinhala.

This will be free of charge and will provide participan­ts with an ideal one-on-one opportunit­y to raise questions pertaining to the market and plan their investment­s with broker firms and unit trust companies that will be present at the event

The workshop will be held in Matara on March 13, 2013 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., while in Negambo, it will be held on March 18, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The one in Kandy will take place on March 23, 2013.

Further, some fixed income workshops will also be conducted to provide existing and potential investors an opportunit­y to learn about investing in debt securities before making investment decisions.

The structure of the seminar is a threehour, one-day programme, which is free of charge. There will be a special programme in English in Colombo on March 22, 2013. This will be conducted at the CSE branch offices in Kandy, Kurunegala, Negambo and Matara and also at the Sasakawa Hall in Colombo.
