Chamari stars in NCP’s win

Opener Chamari Atapattu starred in North Central Province’s easy six-wicket win over Southern Province in the Women’s Provincial T20 encounter played at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

The match played in the morning session saw Southern Province taking first lease of the wicket being restricted to a score of 83 while North Central in their run chase guided by Chamari reached the target in the 17th over.

Lasanthi, Dilani match winners

Lasanthi Madushani and Dilani Manodara steered Central Province to a comfortabl­e six-wicket win over a star-studded Western Province in another match of the same tournament played in the evening session.

Lasanthi who made a top score of 35 came to the rescue of Central Province in their run chase when they were struggling on seven for three in the fourth over.

Lasanthi put on a valuable 44 runs for the fourth wicket with Kanchana Weerakkody before Dilani Manodara who made a quick-fire unbeaten knock of 24 in 12 balls with three boundaries and a six added 30 runs for the fifth wicket with Kanchana enabling them reach the target in the 18th over.
