‘MAW SENEHASA' unspools in London on Mothers' Day

The grand premiere of London-based Engineer Wimal Alahakoon's newest inspiring feature film, MAW SENEHASA ( Motherhood – A silent love ) was last week held at the London PAUL ROBESON THREATRE. The event also coincided with Internatio­nal Mothers' Day.

Among the packed audience were distinguis­hed guests including London's Deputy Sri Lankan High Commission­er Neville de Silva and officials, leading Buddhist prelates, Diplomats, Sri Lankan expatriate community and of course enthusiast­ic British cinema lovers.

Many analysts saw the premiere as one of the wellattend­ed popular events in London in recent times where the film's livewire Wimal Alahakoon was showered with praise from all quarters.

WIMAL ALAHAKOON, who is a British Citizen, has been living in London for over 37 years. He is a Profession­al Engineer and an award winning actor who has produced several Sri Lankan teledramas / Films, particular­ly for the internatio­nal arena. Austrian prelate Ven. Susara Thera who was also among the audience hailed Wimal Alahakoon's commendabl­e effort in promoting Buddhist concepts through this movie. Deputy High Commission­er Neville de Silva who addressed the gathering prior to the screening said, honest and enthusiast­ic creators like Wimal who selflessly worked for the sake of arts deserved more support from whoever concerned.

This film “Maw Senehasa” spreads the noble message to the world that a mother's love and affection towards her children generate a universal power, which makes the world go round…

The highlight of this premiere was the distinguis­hed participat­ion of popular and talented actress Rebecca Nirmali who was specially flown down from Sri Lanka for the London event.

Rebecca who plays the main female led in the movie was mobbed by passionate London fans who were excited by her presence. The affable Rebecca who thanked her fans and wellwisher­s in London, expressed her sincerest gratitude to Wimal and his wife Kanthi for providing her such a rare opportunit­y.

The story revolves around a high ranking Police Officer and an insatiable Politician who are opposed to each other in the struggle between MOTHERHOOD and FINANCIAL GAIN.

The film was directed by Wimal Alahakoon and artistical­ly scripted by Rodney Widanapath­irana.

The key characters are played by Wimal Alahakoon, Rebecca Nirmali, Seetha Kumari , Achala Wapola and Deepani Silva.

Following this premiere in London, Wimal intends to take this movie to Canada, America, Australia, France and Italy, before releasing it in Sri Lanka.
