Blood donation in memory of SATHISH PERERA

A blood donation campaign with the participat­ion of popular artistes, will be held at the Panchikawa­tte Abhayasing­harama Viharaya on May 29 at 8 am to coincide with the 44th birth anniversar­y of popular singer Sathish Perera.

A special Bodhi Pooja and Aloka Pooja with 1000 oil lamps will also be held at the temple on the same day at 7 pm in memory of the singer.

The events are organised by the Maligawatt­e Flats Eksath Buddhist Society and Sathish Perera Memorial committee, popular actress and Sathish’s cousin Kusum Perera told Impulse.

The Ananda College old boy, whose father Shelton Perera was also a reputed musician and singer, was 43 at the time of his death.

Sathish Perera was a crowd puller at musical shows where he sang a mix of his father’s songs and his own creations.

Among the hits were Awasan Liyumai Obata Liyanne, Maha Muhudu Wimane, Egodaha Yanno, Amba Damba Naran, Mihirethi Wasantha Kale, An Hematama Wada, Suwanda Rosa Mal, Kanduluwal­in Pem Hasuna Liyannata, Adareta Hadu Dun Tharam and hundreds of others.

He launched two music albums ‘Pem Hasuna’ and ‘Egodaha Yanno’ which became hits. (RU)
