The Nano Technology Park should also be an educational institute for schoolchildren taking an interest in Nano technology.

The progress of the first Nano Technology Park at Homagama was inspected last morning by Minister of Technology, Research and Atomic Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka and Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardene.

Minister Champika Ranawaka instructed the officials to complete the project by October this year. Later he addressed the seminar on Nano Technology organised by the Homagama Rajapaksa National School.

The minister who created awareness among the students and the teachers of the school on Nano technology pointed out that many countries were now using it for economic development.

He stressed the need to organise similar seminars for schoolchildren to create a new generation conversant with this advanced technology.

“Modern technology has opened up vast new fields in the economic development. In a short time Nano technology will come to the fore. The local new inventors and the scientists should be commended for introducing Nano technology to the country,” he said.

He said the Nano Technology Park should also be an educational institute for schoolchildren taking an interest in Nano technology.

Several senior officials including Secretary to the Ministry of Technology, Research and Atomic Energy Dhara Wijetilleka were present at the occasion.
