The championship conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd under the banner of Milo will see schools from around the island in three age groups under 14, 16 and 18 battling for a berth to the final which is scheduled to be played on June 10 (Monday).

The championship played in two groups ‘A’ and ‘B’ is contested by teams from Gampaha, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Badulla, Anuradhapura, Kandy, Ampara, Homagama, Matale, Colombo, Galle, Matugama and Jaffna.Defending champions Holy Family Convent Kurunegala who won the championship for the fifth successive year when it was held at the Kaduruwela Sports Complex in Polonnaruwa last year will be seeking to retain the title for the sixth year.

Last year the Familians came out on top in all the four age groups. This time out they will face stiff opposition from Kalutara BV and Musaeus College who took the second and third slot.

But the team to watch will be girls from Union College Jaffna who put in some giant killing performance last year when they defeated Kalutara BV in the quarter final and Musaeus College in the semi final in the under 18 category before going down to the ultimate champions Holy Family Convent.
