CMC TO PROSECUTE TWELVE SCHOOLS, FIVE OTHERS

Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) had taken a decision to prosecute twelve schools along with five other establishm­ents in the City of Colombo that had been found to be mosquito breeding grounds.

CMC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasa­m revealed the names of the twelve schools that had been marked for prosecutio­n as being Ananda College, Ananda Balika, St. John’s College, St Anthony’s College, Mattakuliy­a, Good Shephard Tamil Vidyalam, Kotahena, Zahira College, Colombo, Presbyteri­an College Colombo 10, Isipathana College, Hindu Boys School Bambalapit­iya, Asoka Vidayala Narahenpit­a, C. W. W. Kannangara and Sujatha Vidyalaya Narahenpit­a.

ka Telecom Office Colombo South, BCC Ltd, Divisional Secretaria­t office Thimbiriga­syaya, Ayurveda Hospital Borella and National Water Management Project Office located on Ele House Road, Colombo 15. These establishm­ents were among the total number of establishm­ents that were found to be dengue breeding places in Colombo City which was 76.

There had been 1275 dengue cases in the Colombo City this year with four deaths also been reported. Deaths include a student of Law Faculty of Colombo University and a six-year-old girl, according to Dr. Kariyawasa­m.
