FISHERMEN WARNED TO REFRAIN FROM ACTIVITIES AS SOUTH WESTERN MONSOON WINDS STRENGTHEN

The Meteorolog­y Department yesterday said deep and shallow seas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle were still not suitable for fishing as the seas will be rough and dangerous

with strong south- westerly winds blow up to 60 kilometers per hour.

Windy conditions are expected to continue over Sri Lanka and neighbouri­ng sea areas. Southweste­rn monsoonal winds will strengthen at times over the island and especially along the western slopes of central hills.
