Unilever reaffirms commitment to child welfare and safety

Reaffirmin­g the company’s commitment towards improving the health and wellbeing of children as well as the welfare of the mothers, Unilever Sri Lanka handed over four incubators to Dr. Palitha Mahipala, Director General of the Health Ministry of Sri Lanka, to celebrate the relaunch of its baby care brand Pears Baby.

These incubators will be used in the paediatric wards of De Soysa Maternity Hospital, Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, Castle Street Hospital for Women and the Colombo South Teaching Hospital (Kalubowila). The total investment behind this donation is Rs.2.68 million. ‘‘We are extremely happy that organisati­ons such as Unilever have joined us to help provide even better service and care to state-owned hospitals. These incubators will definitely assist us in providing essential aftercare for new born infants,” said Dr. Mahipala.

Since 2002, Unilever, through its Pears brand has been uplifting and providing essential equipment to maternity and paediatric wards of state hospitals in Sri Lanka. The project identifies with the objectives of the Government of Sri Lanka to continue to improve health facilities across the country.
