ILO and OECD to publish G20 labour market update
The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will publish updated G20 labour market data next week ahead of the G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting in Moscow.
The study, Short-term labour market outlook and key challenges in G20 countries will be presented at a press conference on July 17, at the RIA Novosti news agency in Moscow by ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder and OECD Secretary-General, José Ángel Gurría.
The statistical update will enhance discussions at the meeting of G20 Ministers of Employment and Labour and the Joint Meeting of Finance and Labour Ministers convened in Moscow on 18 and 19 July under the Russian Presidency of the G20.
The agenda of the G20 Labour Ministers Meeting entitled “Job Creation for Life and Development” will focus on the issues of job creation, labour activation, equality and social inclusion. Ministers will discuss possible ways to formulate and implement integrated employment policy mixes aimed at addressing simultaneously both the economic and the social needs of the G20 countries’ population.
Ministers will also consider the conclusions of a second ILO-OECD report, addressing employment, labour market and social protection challenges in G20 countries: Key measures since 2010, which was prepared for the meeting at the request of the G20 Task Force on Employment.
CThe report provides an overview of policies and measures applied, or significantly modified, by G20 countries from 2010 up to early 2013 in seven areas: job creation, labour market policies, social protection, skills development, quality employment, youth employment and women’s economic participation.
