Austrian Magician conducts magic workshop

Austrian Dino Dorado conducted a workshop on magic at “Vishmithap­aya” recently. Dino was accorded a fitting welcome with a guard of honour by the members who arrived for the workshop. The Secretary of the Austrian Consulate Mrs.Nedra Henry too was present at the ceremony. The Austrian National flag was unfurled by Dino and the Sri Lankan flag by Ronald de Alwis, President and the National anthems of both countries were played and sung.

The practical lecture demo on close up magic was well presented for nearly four hours, with dexterous moves, excellent patter and superb body rhythm stressing on the need for heavy interactio­n with the audience.

Dino and his wife Melanie left Sri Lanka with a firm promise to return in 2014 with more Austrian holiday makers, proving that the our magicians could be dubbed as “cultural ambassador­s”.

The duo arrived on the 5th June and were met by the magical stalwarts President Ronald de Alwis, Vice Presidents, Rohan Jayasekera, Shelton Jayasekera and Devsiri Fernando at “Vishmithap­aya”, Sri Lanka Magic Circle, 156 Templers Road, Mt.Lavinia.

They were impressed by the Magic Circle having its own premises and the progress made over 91 years. Dino decided to impart his magical skills and conduct a magic workshop on “Close up Magic” for the members and non members. Dino and Melanie was given a gratis Colombo City Tour and a visit to the Gangaramay­a Temple too. The Sri Lanka Magic Circle currently conducts training workshops on the 2nd and last Sundays of every month and any magic lover could join by contacting 0723399874 0r 0722251420. Currently the youngest member is 10 years old and the oldest member is 85 years old.
