JASTECA offers scholarships to needy A/L students
Apart from its main objectives of Japan-Sri Lanka technical cooperation and transference of Japanese technology and management styles, JASTECA has taken great strides in indulging in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. The Madam Kiyoko Ogawa scholarship project is the most outstanding of them all. Supporting maintenance and upkeep of Arachchikanda Hospital is yet another CSR project of JASTECA.
The main benefactor of this project is Madam Kiyoko Ogawa from Japan who has stepped forward to assist poor, needy and deserving G.C.E Advanced level students to continue with their higher education. The project which is administered by JASTECA on behalf of Madam Kiyoko Ogawa, has been funding 25 students every year, up to 325 students so far, during the past 13 years.
Annually, JASTECA identifies different remote districts for funding and this year, it has selected Dimbulagala Education Zone in the Polonnaruwa District. In 2011 and 2012, students from Batticaloa and Mulatiuv were chosen to award scholarships. The criteria adopted to identify the 25 students

The selected students will receive a monthly financial grant for a period of two years until they complete the G.C.E (A.L.) examination. JASTECA is proud to announce that some of the beneficiaries from extremely low income families have even reached the heights of entering universities. This year’s scholarship awarding ceremony will be held at Kashyapa Maha Vidyalaya – Dimbulagala on July 28.
Every year alumni and corpo- rate members of JASTECA and various sponsors donate food items, clothing, books and household articles to the families of these children at the awards ceremony.
