SL students shine at 2013 Bulgarian Int’l Math competition
Another great achievement by young math-minds raised the standards of Sri Lanka in the world of Mathematics.
The Sri Lankan National Team which participated at the recently concluded Bulgarian International Mathematics Competition received a number of awards and recorded the best performance achieved from this nation.
Three students of Royal College in Colombo 7, were placed among the top 10 contestants worldwide at the International Mathematics Competition held from 30th June to 5th July in Burgas, Bulgaria with the participation of 36 countries.
The "A" and "B" teams of Sri Lanka’s under 14 age group, consisting of 8 students won 3 gold medals, 3 silver and a bronze from the individual category.
Team "A" was 2nd runner up from the "Team contest" and also the champion from among the groups.
Team "B" was champion from the "Team contest" and the 2nd runner-up from among the groups. The under 17 team won 3 bronze medals from the individual contest and was the 2nd runner up at the team contest.
The students from Royal College who won medals at the individual contest were Shenal Santhush Kotuwewaththa - Gold medal, Sandil Sandipa Ranasinghe - Gold medal, Ayesha Shasthaka Fonseka - Silver medal and Ruwimal Yasantha Pathiraja - Bronze medal
