UNP concludes inquiry on Dayasiri
The United National Party (UNP) Working Committee on Tuesday concluded the disciplinary inquiry on its MPs Dayasiri Jayasekera and Buddhika Pathirana.
He would be allowed to participate in the party’s campaign
The disciplinary inquiry against him had been completed.The matter had ended and he would continue to work with the party
Four others were given a conditional pardon.
The Daily Mirror reliably learns that several members including MP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and Sajith Premadasa had wanted the disciplinary inquiry against Mr. Jayasekera to be concluded.
Party sources said Mr. Jayasekera would be allowed to participate in the party’s campaign at the elections to the provincial councils.
Mr. Jayaskera when contacted by Daily Mirror also confirmed that the disciplinary inquiry against him had been completed. He said the matter had ended and he would continue to work with the party.
Meanwhile the working committee had also decided to focus on maintaining unity among party members and to launch an effective campaign. Nominations for the three provincial councils will be finalised by a 10-member nomination board which comprises party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, party seniors John Amaratunga, Ravi Karunanayake, Daya Gamage, Joseph Michael Perera, Gayantha Karunatilleke, Mangala Samaraweera and Lakshman Kiriella. The nomination board met yesterday at the party headquarters Sirikotha.
