Altair airborne to capture Colombo vistas

-

As numerous promoters of high-rise living in the city scramble to find words to describe the vistas that will greet their clients when they move in, several years into the future, one developer took to the skies this week to capture photographic images of the views from multiple elevations at the location of its project.

And so it was that neighbours and passers-by were treated to the sight of a helicopter bristling with cameras hovering at different heights over 127, Sir James Peiris Mawatha, Colombo 2, the former Colombo Commercial Co. property, from which t he unique Altair twin tower condominium will soar to 68 stories over the next four years.

“How does one sell a view, off plan, to someone making a substantial investment in a high-rise apartment that is yet to be built?” asks Pradeep Moraes, President – Sales and Marketing of Indocean Developers, the promoter of Altair. “Rather than leave it to conjecture, colourful words or artists’ impressions, we decided to literally raise our game and offer actual images, from a 360 degree perspective, at different elevations.”

Designed by the globallyrecognized celebrity architect Moshe Safdie, Altair -- scheduled for completion in 2017 -- comprises of two tower blocks, one of which leans against the other. The taller of the two towers will rise to 68 stories, offering the building’s 400 apartments spectacular views of the Beira Lake, Indian Ocean, city of Colombo and a silhouette of the central hills.

“Altair is designed to be a game changing real estate development in terms of architectural design, structural engineering and living experience and this effort to produce actual images of the views that this spectacular building will offer, reflects our commitment to rise to extraordinary heights to satisfy our clients,” Moraes said. “We believe it is the first time that a property developer has made such an effort in Sri Lanka and it captures the spirit of the South City Group whose creed is to exceed customer expectations.”

Altair promoter, Indocean Developers, is a venture of South City Group, which brings together over 150 years of cumulative development experience. The group has completed 10 million square feet of real estate development and currently has 20 million square feet of space worth US $ 1.1 billion under construction.
