SLIIT to offer scholarships to SAARC students
Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) provides a vital boost to the education sector by providing valuable educational opportunities through scholarships for students in the SAARC region in a range of disciplines at SLIIT.
During the last decade, SLIIT has risen to become one of the top higher educational institutes in the region, offering students high quality, structured academic programmes geared to maximise students’ employability and providing highly skilled graduates who fulfil employers’ demands for competent, top-notch professionals.
“Our aim is not only to cater to the local market but to the regional and international markets as well,” opines SLIIT Chairman Professor S. Karunaratne. “We have a network of partner universities in Australia, the UK, USA and Canada and students have the opportunity to either graduate from SLIIT or from any one of the partner universities. Thus, SLIIT provides a wide range of higher educational opportunities for students at the institute,” he stated.
“Sri Lanka has immense potential and we wish to spur the growth of the education sector to become an education hub not only in the region but also internationally,” reiterated SLIIT President and CEO Professor Lalith Gamage.
“SLIIT enrols students from the region and currently has students from the African continent, as well as Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and a few SAARC countries. Internationalisation is one of the key priorities in SLIIT’s 10-year plan towards achieving this goal and making Sri Lanka a preferred destination for higher education.”
He further explains, “SLIIT is on the path to becoming one of the top 10 universities in the region and we are working towards making the institute a recognised global university.”
SLIIT’s expansive, picturesque campus in Malabe is conducive to honing students’ skills, with state-of-the-art facilities and well-equipped laboratories coupled with a highly skilled panel of lecturers to deliver professional services for a well-rounded education at a reasonable cost.
