Message from Managing Director Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services (Pvt) Ltd

t gives me and my team great pleasure to be associated with South Asia’s Largest Hospitality Exhibition “Hotel Show 2013” held on the 26th, 27th & 28th of July at the BMICH.

As a pioneer Professional Exhibition Organizer in Sri Lanka, we have identified the Hospitality and Tourism industry as one of the core segments in our portfolio of business. Our main objective is to further develop the Hotel Show by increasing the international participation and incorporating industry related events such as Culinary Competitions, Industry Seminars, Work Shops and Food Festivals which will result in making this event the largest Hotel related International show in South Asia.

In the past the “Hotel Show” was held every other year initially in 1998 and this is the 8th show since its inception, however, due to the fact that there are over 200 new hotels which are due to be opened very soon in our country, we decided to have the show in 2013 since we have had many requests by our exhibitors. This year the new development is the “Bocuse d’Or” Sri Lanka competition which is taking place in Sri Lanka for the 1st time. The finalists of this competition will take part in the “Bocuse d’Or” Asia segment. The Street Food Carnival will take place in conjunction with the exhibition for the 2nd consecutive year.

Furthermore we intend to work hand in hand, with Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association and their partners to develop the Hospitality and Tourism industry which is gearing to host 2.5 million tourist by 2016, to achieve this target Sri Lanka will require over 30,000 rooms to accommodate the above number, hence the Hotel Show will be a gateway for all stakeholders in the hospitality industry to upgrade their facilities and reach this target.
