Free education on way out: Bandara
The Inter-University Student Federation (IUSF) Leader Sanjeewa Bandara, who was released on bail yesterday, accused the government of formulating a policy to admit students by levying a fee.
He said such a policy would infringe on the opportunities available to less-privileged students, who would no longer enjoy the benefits of free education.
Mr. Bandara told a media briefing held soon after his release that the government was attempting to suppress the rights of university students and attack them because they expressed their opinions without fear. He said soon the students would be unable to reap the benefits of a free education system and urged the people to come forward and fight for free
education.
