Police said they were residents of Jaffna, Vavuniya and Trincomalee. The asylum seekers who had left Mirissa are believed to have been heading towards Australia. Their boat had stalled after developing engine trouble some 230 nautical miles off Galle. The CID is conducting further investigations.
