ARUGAMSURFERSDOMINATE PROCEEDINGS ON DAYTWO
The second day’s proceedings of the Third Arugam Bay Surf Classic organized by Arugam Bay Beachwear in association with the Arugam Bay Surf Club saw some scintillating surfing by the local and foreign surfers which was held at the picturesque world renowned Arugam Bay beach.
The competition in the local category were fought by surfers from Arugam Bay Surf Club who had a strong and experience competitors in the field and surfers from down South in Hikkaduwa, Rathgama, Unawatuna and Matara battling out for supremacy.
In fact the surfers from Arugam Bay had the most of number of participants and as expected dominated the proceedings on the second day of the three day event.
From the six second round events that were held for the day the surfers from Arugam Bay Surf Club had the honour of taking the top slot and will no doubt seeking to maintain that trend and come out on top in the final stages of the event is scheduled to be held today from 7.00 a.m. onwards.
Meanwhile in the open category that comprised foreign participation saw surfers from Australia, USA, Brittain and Switzerland in the fray. Even though there were no big names in the fray a high class of performance was witnessed which the local surfers would have seen the difference.
The open category saw Roli from Switzerland, Peter Riley, Australia dominating and coming out on top. But they were given some anxious moments by surfers Cody Carothers (USA), R. Mickey and Seth Bishop (Britain).
The curtains of the third Arugam Bay Surf Classic will come down today with the quarter, semis and the final of the local category and the open event scheduled to be held from morning today.
